As the series progressed, plotlines saw Martin eventually move on to become the host of the talk show Word on the Street, which aired on the small Detroit public-access television station Channel 51. The interview is also the first time Tisha and Martin are seen publicly together since their past cast debacle, which was part of the reason for the show's cancellation in 1997. He has a particularly antagonistic relationship with Gina's best friend Pam. Episodes often center on Martin's inappropriate behaviors and incessant smart mouth towards his friends, neighbors, and whoever else finds themselves in his presence. In the end, Martin is left to do the whole show by himself, but he fails miserably. But Martin has plans to hang out with Tommy and Cole at a new club that just opened up. Bob only appears in 2 episodes, once in the first season and again in the second season. Cole convinces Martin to be like he is on his radio show.
But once he's there, the pain really begins to set in. Martin's friends, Tommy and Cole, help him get into trouble. Martin always finds himself having rather strange conversations with him. Gina and the gang quickly scramble to come up with bail money. Guest appearances by The Love Boats and.
She complements Martin's street savvy by serving as a voice of reason. As they prepare, some of Martin's old friends stop by and they gather the gang at Nipsey's and recall past good times. The friction nearly leads to fighting, until Gina plays peacemaker. Somehow he has to figure a way to get away from Gina's mom, so he can go out and have a good time. But a trip to the courthouse with Cole leads to them finding out that Martin has been ignoring jury duty since 1983. Martin barges in on Gina while she's with another man, and tries to win her back.
Whenever trouble arises, he feels the overwhelming need to dance. In addition, this episode also marks the final appearance of Sheneneh. Needless to say, their joint venture was a failure. But the bird dies and Martin believes Gina killed the bird intentionally. The clients are so impressed that they put Pam in charge, causing Gina to feel betrayed. Martin goes around to each of his good friends and accuses them. Martin hires a female maid that he likes and Gina fires her.
Trinidad, is still teaching there. So Martin tries to convince her boss to take her back. The only problem is that if Martin wants the show, he must move to L. But it's Martin who's running scared when he loses the ring and has to figure out how to tell Gina about it. Sheneneh, Mama Payne, Jerome, they're all on-hand for the wildest, wackiest and wazzupiest season of Martin yet! As a result, Martin refuses to pay the rent which leads Mr. So he hurriedly gets the gang together and hires audience members to put on a quick show.
They all wind up running the vehicle into the ground and have to get rid of it. Sheneneh has several girlfriends who occasionally appeared in the program, those being Keylolo , Bonquisha , and Laquita. Martin and Gina end up in the street! And after his advice on the show brings an arguing couple back together, Martin begins referring to himself as the Love Doctor, and begins handing out relationship advice to everyone he meets. His last appearances were in the fourth season, and he explains his absence by stating that he only comes around when Martin and Gina are away out of respect for their marriage.
